"Underpinnings" is a term that encompasses the undergarments worn to support your clothing.

Most period foundations were not a single garment, but were made of many layers of clothing.
Chemise, hoopskirts, farthingales, bumrolls, petticoats, bustles and panniers are just a few of the items well dressed ladies used to create the fashionable silhouettes of the times.

Corsets can be found on their own page.

Our Best Petticoat!  It can be worn with by itself or over a hoop.  It can also be tucked up or turned inside out for a can-can effect.
